FIRST COAST STEEL SHOOTERS BYLAWS
Overview: First Coast Steel Shooters (FCSS) is a member-run club, and as such the members are expected to work matches, including stage set up, stage tear down, orienting new shooters to the sport and the club, serving as a Range Officer, scoring, vending and registration. A member of FCSS MUST also maintain membership in the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA). This dual membership requirement includes spouses and children who also wish to be a member of FCSS. There are no exceptions. Please note that guests DO NOT have to be members of either SCSA or FCSS. FCSS is a family-oriented club, and as such members are required to keep foul language to a minimum. All members are extended one warning in this regard, with the penalty being removal from club for repeated offenses. Club members feel strongly about no tolerance for cursing in front of range officers, guests, women or children. As members, please make your guests aware of this rule. Members of FCSS agree to rules that include no off color jokes in public earshot, no offensive clothing, no posting of questionable items on website (keep it rated G), no unsportsman-like conduct, and also agree to follow all gun safety rules and the rules of SCSA. Repeated violation of these rules will lead to expulsion from the club and FCSS activities. Any violations of club policy are to be reported to club officials at once.
Education: The philosophy of FCSS places an emphasis on education. It is everyone's responsibility to educate new shooters to rules and procedures of our club and the steel challenge sport. Members of FCSS are requested to review the specific rule books will be sent to you in your SCSA packet when you join.
Safety and Comfort: The normal safety rules for USPSA matches and safety rules specific to the host range, FCSS members may DQ shooters ONLY for gun safety violations. Minor infractions are to be brought to the attention of club officials for proper course of action. Minor infractions may include but not limited to, ammo in the safe area, handling an UNLOADED gun outside of the safe area, etc. FCSS is organized to “educate not terminate.” As our matches are Level I, rules to compete may be relaxed at the discretion of the range officer in consultation with the shooter. For example, if the shooter is not comfortable drawing from a holster, starting from the “low ready” may be acceptable until the shooter feels comfortable shooting from the draw. Another example could include allowing for a restart if the shooter has a gun malfunction. However, consistent with SCSA rules, time per run ends at the last shot fired.
